From 90’s to Fixer Upper Inspired Fireplace Makeover

September 28, 2019 by LauraCarlton 11 Comments

Hello and welcome! This is an older renovation, but still relevant and worth sharing. Stay tuned for our 90’s to Fixer Upper Inspired Fireplace Makeover.

The Before

Now keep in mind this is 2015 and I was still using my trusty iPhone 4s for photos. Amazing how far the phone cameras have come in a few years!

This quality is outstanding! (sarcasm font)
  • Oh the golden oak and hunter green tile!

We decided to renovate this right about the time Chip and Joanna Gaines were just becoming HGTV superstars and I couldn’t get enough. I knew I wanted to use shiplap (my hubs hadn’t even heard of shiplap before Fixer Upper). Whats shiplap?! I also had chosen an intricate marble tile for the fireplace surround.

Welcome to my Fall Home Tour!

Its Fall Y’all!

Hello friends! It’s been few weeks and I have been working hard at home catching up on projects, one of those being decorating for fall. I’d love if you’d follow along on my fall home tour.

Our Dining Nook

One of the main things you can do to keep your decor simple for fall is choose a few items and colors your loving and use those. For this space, I used buffalo check, warm amber glass. I’m loving the way the light shines through this pretty, brown glass. They were a score at an antique store a few weeks ago! I also used vintage decor I already owned as well as fun finds from Target from years past. There’s always cute stuff in the dollar spot! (unless it’s our local Tar-jay, which is generally ransacked!)

Fall Kitchen

I’ve restyled our kitchen shelves using copper accents, wood pieces and vintage canisters. Copper also brings in more warm color that I love against the wood tones in our kitchen as well as the orange pumpkins on the kitchen island. Another way to bring warmth and vintage charm are antique brass candlesticks.

I got my inspiration for this centerpiece from my mom. She added a breadboard and pumpkins on her dining table and I thought, hey! I can do that using things I already have. I talked about that on my instagram page as well.

Mid Century Modern Dresser Makeover

September 5, 2019 by LauraCarlton 3 Comments

Hey all! I’m super excited to show you my latest furniture flip, this Mid Century Modern Dresser Makeover! I was recently contacted by a local friend, Nicci, A Farmhouse Full. Nicci was in the process of redoing her master bedroom and I helped her with making a few design choices as well as redoing this dresser. I’ve only done a few mcm makeovers, so I was pretty excited to do another one. The classic lines, awesome legs, and pretty wood gets me every time!

This dresser originally manufactured by Baumritter, the company that went on to become Ethan Allen. This one is part of the Birchcraft series. Solid as a rock and solid Birch wood.
